Creating a ‘game changing’ consumer healthcare strategy.

What we did…

We spent time on the ground with the Japanese team and immersed ourselves in their culture, business and market. Using our collaborative, fact based, insight-led process, we rapidly built credibility and identified a number of highly impactful strategic insights to drive sustainable growth and profitability. We then worked with them to co-develop a “game changing” strategy which they could own and implement.


The business has committed to a strategic plan to become the fastest growing and most profitable OTC company in Japan, increasing their 2020 sales ambition by 20% and their profitability ambition by 40%. The project also identified ‘bottom-up’ incremental strategic growth initiatives worth around ¥8 billion and efficiency initiatives worth around ¥3 billion.

We can be really proud of the final outcome; a massive mindset shift and some very clear strategies for the local team to follow, to take the business to the next level. Despite all the challenges along the way, I really appreciated the positivity that you maintained throughout.
